OVI/DUI
 In Ohio, OVI stands for Operating a Vehicle while Impaired, which is the official term for driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI). OVI is a broader category that includes impairment from alcohol, prescription drugs, illegal drugs, or over-the-counter drugs, and can apply to motorized and non-motorized transportation. For example, an impaired bicyclist or someone driving a horse-drawn carriage can be charged with an OVI.
